St Ervan is a small rural parish of great peace and tranquillity with a closely-knit farming community where people are self-reliant and hospitable.

The Parish lies about three miles south-west of Padstow, inland from Cornwall's rugged north coast cliffs. St Ervan Parish has three hamlets: Churchtown (St Ervan), Rumford and Penrose. Many of the farms and local businesses are still run by families that go back generations in the Parish, giving the place a timeless feel.

The church at St Ervan, is dedicated to an early Celtic saint, and nestles on the side of a hill, with the lane beyond plunging deeply down to end at a ford beside Millingworth Mill. As in several other parishes in Cornwall St Ervan has its own Holy Well, down the valley below the Church. Water from the well is still used for christenings in this parish.

Famous for being featured in Sir John Betjeman’s poem, ‘Summoned by Bells’ the church still displays both bell and the poem.
